Music in Our Homes Month |
Ms. Rodriguez-Cruz |
March is Music in Our Schools Month (MIOSM), designated by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). The purpose of MIOSM is to raise awareness of importance of music education for all children and that all children should have access to music in schools. It started as a single day in New York to showcase the vital place of music in the learning process. It was expanded to a week and then a month when teachers wanted more flexibility to participate. NAfME provides resources for teachers to participate in concerts and new lessons for various grade levels. Due to our current situation, the North Carolina Music Educators Association (NCMEA), saw the opportunity to begin a new initiative for April: Music in Our Homes Month (MIOHM). I want to encourage students and parents to create music at home with several activities and resources I have gathered for you!
